17.06.2007: Linkage nut
Slacken the 13 mm nut on the linkage rod and move the shifter into 3rd gear position to pull the rod out of the linkage.

Manual gear shifter housing removal installation on 1994-1998 Saab 900 and 1999-2002 Saab 9-3. I removed the housing to fit a short shifter.

The installation is the reverse of removal. The shifter alignment procedure must be performed after re-installation.

Tools:

  • 13 mm socket: linkage clamp;
  • 10 mm socket: centre console and shifter housing;
  • long socket extension;
  • ratchet handle;
  • Torx T25 screwdriver;
  • L-shaped 3 mm Allen key: gearbox lock.
