The funnel cut to the size. Inner diameter 3", outer 4.5". This is the biggest size you can fit between the fender and the headlight.

An airbox modification performed on a 1996 Saab 900. The goal of this simple upgrade was to enlarge the airbox inlet pipe and reduce the airflow restriction caused by the narrow original pipe.
