27.05.2005: Airbox |
Locate the airbox, take off the cover and remove the air filter insert.
Unbolt the bottom half of the airbox (three 10 mm nuts) and pull it out of
the car.

27.05.2005: Pipe removed |
The original inlet pipe just snaps into its base. Once you unlock the
two latches, the pipe just slides out.

27.05.2005: Soldering iron |
Cut the base of the pipe. If you don't have a Dremel, a thin soldering
iron does a great job of melting the plastic...

...and the base falls out leaving a gaping hole. Use a round file to
make the edge smoother.

This $3 funnel from a hardware store will serve as replacement for
the stock pipe.

27.05.2005: Funnel cut |
The funnel cut to the size. Inner diameter 3", outer 4.5". This is
the biggest size you can fit between the fender and the headlight.

The same soldering iron can be used to "weld" the funnel to the airbox.

A thick bead of glue/sealant completes the job from the inside.
