06.05.2006: Seats removed
Front seats removed. The convertible interior is unbelievably convenient to work on compared to the regular cars with a roof. Everything is so easy to access.

The dashboard, centre console, glovebox, stereo, and switches. Gone. This will give the access to the pedals, speaker wiring and the ECU.

06.05.2006: Carpets and trim
Removed the carpet and door trim. The carpet is just one big piece that covers the entire floor. And the door trim is held by three screws in the door handles and three on the lower side of the door.

06.05.2006: Rear speakers
The rear speakers in the convertible are 5¼". I stocked up on 6"x9" thinking they would be the same as in the hatch. Now I don't want to trade them to the 5¼ as I'd like to have bigger speakers in the rear. Just need to find a way to mount them.

23.07.2006: Door stripped
The door is completely stripped of upholstery and covers. You don't have to remove the locks or window motor -- just raise the glass to gain a better access to the inside of the door.

23.07.2006: B-Quiet
A layer of sound deadening material is applied on the inside of the door and the outer surface. I went with B-Quiet Ultimate - the product that gained its popularity as "Brown Bread".

02.08.2006: Passenger footwell
More soundproofing in the passenger footwell. The factory foam will go on top of this since it hides the wires and air ducts.

02.08.2006: Side panel
Rear side panels. The amount of wiring in the area makes the access to body panels a bit difficult.

08.08.2006: Amplifier
The amplifier mounted on the back of the rear seat. It seems to have a perfect size to fit into the ski pass-through. More on audio upgrade on this page.
