CD changer installation on a Saab 9-5 sedan. When buying a used CD changer, make sure it's been "divorced" from the old head unit. If it wasn't, get a VIN number of the original car.

The Saab mounting kit comes with everything you need to install a changer: mounting brackets, bolts and nuts, and a plastic cover that protects the changer.

29.03.2006: Connector
Most cars would be pre-wired for a changer with the harness hiding behind a flap in the upholstery and the holes cut in the trunk floor. There was, however, a lapse in some model years, so you might still need a harness.

Lift the spare wheel cover and detach the plastic piece around the trunk latch.

Pull the side trim and install the bracket.

Restore the trim and attach the changer. Plug the wiring harness.

Install the plastic cover and drive to the dealer to program the changer with a Tech2.
