Cabin filter replacement on a 1996 Saab 900 (also applies to 1999-2002 9-3).

Undo wiper arm nuts with a 13 mm socket.

Lift the arms and remove them from the car.

Raise the hood and pull the rubber strip from the top of the firewall. Remove the top cover over the blower and wiper motor.

Remove the inner cover. Careful not to crack it as it's rather thin.

Unscrew the wiper motor and rods (three 10 mm bolts).

Clean the leaves and junk, pull the old filter.

Look at them side by side. The old filter is filth incarnate!

Attach the wiper motor and connect the harness.

Fit the thin inner cover.

Connect the washer hose (there's a fitting that goes through the cover).

Attach the outer cover: it goes under the strip on the windshield and hooks to the firewall on the other side. Fit the rubber band on the firewall.
